About Christina

Where I started, where I've been, where I am, and where I'm going.

This is where you'll find out all about who I am and how I ended up where I am today!

The Beginning

Christina Brandal was born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Her parents have taught her by example the importance of faith, a good work ethic,

and kindness to others. They remain two of her greatest cheerleaders and have provided her with support and encouragement at every step of her journey.

Christina is the youngest of two siblings. Her older brother put up with her antics for several years before he went away to college and started his own family. She believes her experiences with her brother made her an expert "little sister" - a title she still claims with many unrelated "brothers" to this day.

Growing Up Ain't Easy

When she was 18 years old, just six months after high school graduation, Christina was diagnosed with Graves Disease.

All educational and work endeavors ceased as she went through several years of treatment and eye surgeries.

Finally, she was able to return to college, and several years later, just a few months before her 24th birthday, she graduated with a degree from UNC-Asheville in Mass Communications.

During her academic career she wrote for several newspapers.

(Hendersonville Times-News, The Soundings, UNC-A Blue Banner, and the Campbell Times)

Christina also participated in the inaugural program of the World Journalism Insitute.

Family

Christina met her husband just before graduating from UNCA. They were married the year prior to her 2004 graduation.

She has two daughters
